What’s a sequel wedding?

 

Once we decided we wanted to celebrate our elopement with our family and friends, we started planning…but what do we call this event? According to google this is a “sequel wedding”. Shockingly enough we weren’t the only couple who had to change our plans in 2020, thus the sequel wedding is now a thing. Is it a bit cheesy sounding? Yes. Is it an accurate way to label this event? Yes. So here it is- “Mike and Karli Make A Marriage Part 2” the sequel wedding.

 

In all honesty, we wanted to do this because making the decision to elope in 2020 was a very difficult one. There were a lot of tears (and 16 wedding dresses via mail) in those 3 short weeks. Ultimately we just wanted to be married. So we married (and we are so happy we did).

 

By having a sequel wedding we are in no way dismissing our elopement. Considering the state of the world at that time (Karli was literally painting her soon-to-be-wed nails when the fly landed on Pence’s head) the elopement was just what we needed. It was lovely, simple and a really happy day. As beautiful as it was we both wished the world would have been safe enough for all of us to celebrate together. Both our families grew that day and yet no one knew.

 

So here we are! Almost 3 years later and everything finally feels right to make this happen. We won’t be re-doing the wedding per se, that was special all on its own. Instead we want to have a whole new celebration with all of you. I think we all deserve a reason to have a party on the beach, right?
